WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis Definition
Hypnosis is a deep state of relaxation which everyone is capable of achieving. When hypnosis is properly used by a licensed counselor, hypnosis is a wonderful tool which enables you to utilize unrealized abilities that you already have in your mind; including your mind’s ability to control your physiological and emotional responses, and the subconscious ability we all have to eliminate unwanted habits and get rid of other unwanted problems.
Over the years there has been much controversy and debate about hypnosis uses, and many people wonder does hypnosis work, and what is hypnosis. This is understandable because most of the movies and TV programs about hypnosis are designed to be entertaining, not educational, and they often show hypnosis being used in ways that it can not be used, or the programs use a lot of sensationalism and distort the truth about hypnosis and cause many misconceptions about what its like to be hypnotized. But researchers, counselors, and psychologists who have been extensively trained in hypnosis, have conducted research over many decades which shows that hypnosis is a safe and effective therapy in helping clients achieve goals quickly and easily.
Millions of Americans are now being awakened to some of the valuable results achieved through hypnosis.
When properly used by a hypnotherapist, hypnosis is a tool which can save untold time and anguish by helping people overcome problems in much less time, and the cost of hypnotherapy is much less expensive than almost any other type of therapy.
Hypnotherapists have been able to help people from all walks of life overcome numerous psychological and physical problems.
Others have overcome hundreds of different physical problems, and the most amazing fact is that most of those people came for hypnotherapy only as a last resort, after having tried all the known conventional methods, and in many cases, having been told, “there is nothing that can be done.” In some of those cases, they had been told they only had a limited time to live. But through hypnotherapy they recovered!
FACTS ABOUT HYPNOSIS
Who should I choose to hypnotize me?
Scientific medical research has proved that hypnosis is a valuable tool, but when considering who is the best hypnotist in Houston to help you overcome a problem, be sure to select a licensed counselor who is a trained hypnotherapist, who specializes in hypnosis, and uses hypnosis exclusively in their practice. People troubled with a physical or emotional problem can be relieved and cured with proper guidance from a competent professional. Some emotions, though they may be consciously forgotten, remain in the inner mind and produce conflicts which often cause physical symptoms. Using hypnosis, those conflicts can often be released and the physical problem can be cured.
Research conducted by Columbia University School of Medicine revealed that “symptom removal through hypnosis does not cause other symptoms to arise, and any claims otherwise are completely unsubstantiated.” Some people are afraid they will reveal “secrets” while they are hypnotized. There is no reason to be concerned. They definitely will not reveal anything they would be consciously unwilling to reveal.
To clear up another concern: There has never been a verified case in which a person, in the hypnotic state has been made to perform any act that would be against her or his conscious desires. It has been found that the inner mind will reject any unwanted suggestion given by the hypnotherapist, and the client would not have any inclination to respond to such a suggestion.
WHO CAN BE HYPNOTIZED?
Everyone is capable of being hypnotized! The depth of the hypnotic state achieved varies for each person, and varies each time a person is hypnotized, yet everyone is capable of achieving the depth needed to handle the problem he or she desires to overcome.
CAN HYPNOSIS CAUSE ILL-EFFECTS?
There is one way hypnosis could cause ill-effects: If it is used to remove pain without knowing the cause of the pain. It is usually easy to get rid of pain when hypnosis is used for that purpose, but it is unwise to remove the pain without knowing the cause. The problem could get worse and the client would be unaware because they would not have the pain to let them know the physical problem is still there. There are many side-effects after a person is hypnotized, but they are all good! Most people report sleeping much better. Many mention that they are more calm and more at ease during their daily life. Numerous people have noticed their self-confidence increases, and large numbers have mentioned that they are able to think more clearly and do their work more efficiently.
HOW MANY SESSIONS DOES IT TAKE?
A definite answer cannot be given to that question because each person is unique. And each responds in his own way. However, in the last 30 years I have hypnotized over 20,000 people, and approximately 90% stop smoking with only one session. The other 10% may require 2 to 4 sessions. Improving the memory, building self-confidence, and other types of self- improvement usually take only 3 or 4 sessions. Overcoming physical problems may take anywhere from 2 to 10 sessions. Helping a person lose weight and reduce to a specific goal and maintain at that level usually requires 6-8 sessions for most people, but there are some who may require more, and it has nothing to do with the amount of weight a person needs to get rid of. Again, I must emphasize that each person is unique and different, and there is no way an exact numbers of sessions can be predicted other than in the way I have mentioned here.
